![]() ![]() ![]() Follow @Uncle_Ernie It Only Gets Worse! By Ernest Stewart "Scientists have been warning about global warming for decades. It's too late to stop it now, but we can lessen its severity and impacts." ~~~ David Suzuki Like the western states, there are widespread water shortages in the rest of the world caused by rising global temperatures that will lead to food shortages and mass migration, like the current migrations out of the Middle East, where they've had record high temperatures and little rain! The head of the World Meteorological Society, Michel Jarraud has warned, "Of all the threats posed by a warming climate, shrinking water supplies are the most serious." It is predicted that by 2025, some 2.8 billion people will live in 'water scarce' areas, a huge increase from the 1.6 billion who do now. Parts of Africa, the Middle East and Asia will be worst affected, with pockets of Australia, the US and southern Europe also predicted to suffer. Mr Jarraud said that. "Although it has been a few years since a spate of major food crises, all the ingredients are there for a food crisis to come back on a very large scale." Earlier this week the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) announced that: "Southern Africa faces food shortages, as drought, exacerbated by the El Nino weather pattern, delays planting and stunts crops across the region.said the FAO said in the alert. If that doesn't hit home here's something that will! Droughts in Brazil are expected to cause harvests of popular Robusta and Arabica beans to drop by almost 10 per cent over the next year; so I'm glad I drink tea! Combined with the fact that global demand for the product is predicted to increase, a shortage of coffee looks inevitable. Foreign Agricultural Service's global coffee production report says, "Brazil's Robusta harvest is forecast to decline 3.7 million bags to 13.3 million.Regional harvests last season were also badly affected by drought conditions, raising the specter of back-to-back production declines of key cereal crops such as corn. In 2015 corn production, accounting for nearly 80 percent of the total cereal output, declined by 27 percent on account of adverse weather. Not only is GMO corn poisonous, but it doesn't grow very well when compared to organic corn, especially when grown in hot and dry conditions. Ergo if you don't do something about global warming, it's only going to get worse! ***** ![]() 12-20-1947 ~ 12-27-2015 Thanks for the music! ![]() 04-25-1932 ~ 12-27-2015 Thanks for the laughs! ![]() 12-24-1945 ~ 12-28-2015 Thanks for the music! ***** We get by with a little help from our friends!
