Shadows Of The Nightmares To Come
By Ernest Stewart

"Hunger is a political issue, and there are several things politically that are keeping people hungry - not funding food stamps adequately, not funding school lunches adequately. So there is a political solution to the problem of hunger." ~~~ Tom Colicchio

Well, it didn't take the monsters in The House long to get started. They hit the ground running on the first day with an attack on Social Security's solvency. They approved a rule that will seriously undermine efforts to keep all of Social Security solvent.

The rule hampers an otherwise routine reallocation of Social Security payroll tax income from the old-age program to the disability program. Such a reallocation, in either direction, has taken place 11 times since 1968, according to Kathy Ruffing of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. "They plan on cutting benefits for those on disability programs next year because the disability program's trust fund is expected to run dry as early as next year." At that point, disability benefits for 11 million beneficiaries would have to be cut 20%. As the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare put it:
"The procedural rule enacted by the House Republican caucus prohibits the reallocation unless it's accompanied by "benefit cuts or tax increases that improve the solvency of the combined trust funds. In practical terms, that makes the reallocation impossible; it mandates either benefit cuts across the board, which aren't politically palatable, or a payroll tax increase, which isn't palatable to the GOP."
Social Security advocates are almost universally aghast at the change."It is hard to believe that there is any purpose to this unprecedented change to House rules," in an open letter Tuesday, Max Richtman, president of the committee wrote, "other than to cut benefits for Americans who have worked hard all their lives, paid into Social Security and rely on their Social Security benefits, including Disability Insurance, in order to survive."

Next on their agenda is getting rid of food stamps and Obama Care. They've already introduced legislation to get rid of the mandatory parts of Obama Care. The Pipeline is high on their list; and bills to approve it are already being written. Sure, Barry has his veto power; but with the help of blue dog Demoncrats like Chuck Schumer, they may be able to override a veto. Have no doubt, they'll attach riders to every piece of legislation -- like the budget bills that Barry won't veto. So, by hook or by crook, we're about to get really screwed by the folks that sat out the last election, and allowed the minority crazies to do what they are going to do for the benefit of the 1%. By the time that 2016 rolls around, you won't recognize America!

So how do you like Bush Lite so far?
And more importantly, what are you planning on doing about it?

Until the next time, Peace!
