We're Having A Heat Wave!
By Ernest Stewart

We're having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave,
The temperature's rising,
It isn't surprising...
Heat Wave ~~~ Irving Berlin

Still denying Global Warming? It's getting harder and harder to do so, huh? Are you beginning to feel like a Jehovah's Witness with appendicitis? Speaking of which, "It was so hot that Jehovah's Witnesses started telemarketing," or, as Johnny Carson was wont to say, "It's so hot, I poured McDonald's coffee on my lap to cool off!"

Heat warnings and advisories are in place across 26 states -- with higher than normal temperatures expected through the next week. This is affecting about 1/3rd of everyone in the US; some 120 million Americans are sweltering. As I've reported before, weather scientists have predicted this will continue through the end of September!

For example, here in Michigan, at least five people are dead from heart attacks or breathing difficulties related to humidity and high temperatures. Meteorologists say a dome of high pressure is affecting most of the United States, trapping hot air and causing extremely high temperatures. The heat is fueling fires in California and will make for an uncomfortable Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, where on Monday it felt like it was 108 degrees. I recall it was hot outside the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago, where the cops tried to make it even hotter; but like today's convention, the real heat was inside the arena! While many may welcome summer heat, temperatures will climb high enough to be dangerous for people who have to be outdoors for hours.

The combination of heat, humidity, sunshine and other conditions will push Temperatures to 100 F or higher in locations of the Central states, especially in urban areas late this week and into the weekend, and up and down the Eastern Seaboard.

I already know what you Global Warming deniers will say, "Hey it's July, what did you expect?" Well, then, how do explain why a massive heat wave has struck Alaska this week, with the town of Deadhorse, which is located well above the Arctic Circle and near the shores of the Arctic Ocean witnessing a high of 85 F. This has been the warmest ever in Deadhorse, where average summer temperatures tend to be in the 50s or less at this time of the year. The temperatures were in the 80s all across the region, much like it was when the dinosaurs roamed Alaska in great herds like the caribou do today.

Meanwhile, with temps in the low 100s and a five-year drought, a pair of California wildfires have burned tens of thousands of acres in Southern and Central parts of the state. There are currently at least a dozen fires burning throughout California. In Southern California, the so-called 'Sand Fire' has set more than 37,000 acres of the Santa Clarita Valley ablaze. So far, this fire has burned some 58 square miles of an area just north of L. A.

So, America, how do you like Global Warming so far? And what, if anything, do you plan on doing about it? If you don't do anything, it will just get worse and worse and worse!

So how do you like Bush Lite so far?
And more importantly, what are you planning on doing about it?

Until the next time, Peace!
