We Got Sold Down The River Again
By Ernest Stewart

"We have the best Congress money can buy." ~~~ Will Rogers

Another year, another sellout. Both the House and the Senate passed the so-called CRomnibus budget bill by large majority's in both Houses. Here's the list of those who voted for and against the bill in the Senate:

Not voting were: Chambliss (R-GA), Coburn (R-OK), Feinstein (D-CA), Inhofe (R-OK).

More campaign finance laws were gutted to allow the 1% to give 1.5 million dollars each election to each and every candidate and PAC they want to.

It cuts the healthy meals for schools lunch programs -- just some Rethuglican hatred for the first lady and hungry children. It drops the coming ban on incandescent light bulbs; so much for conserving energy. It cuts the IRS budget to go after corpo-rat tax cheats by $500,000,000. A payback for going after Demoncratic and Rethuglican campaign committees and the like. Apparently, the IRS forgot there are two sets of laws: one for us, and one for them; I bet the IRS remembers next time!

Now here's a real surprise, it adds more money to the Pentagoon's budget -- even more money than they requested! Yes, I was just being facetious; I know, my bad! Then to top it off, it adds an extra $9 billion for more war.

Barry and JPMorgan Chase & Co's CEO Jamie Dimon were pulling Democratic puppet strings to support it; and, boy, did they dance -- even Bernie Sanders cut a rug in favor of it!

The 1,603-page bill, negotiated by Republican and Democratic appropriators and leaders, would "roll back the Dodd-Frank laws due to go into effect next year by killing planned restrictions on derivatives trading by large banks, allowing them to continue trading swaps and futures in units that benefit from federal deposit insurance and Federal Reserve loans;" and if they screw up again, can you guess who picks up the bill? If you said the US taxpayers, you may stay after class and clean the erasers! Guess who voted for this, amongst others, the scourge of Wall Street herself, Elizabeth Warren! So much for her stand against the Banksters, huh? I look forward to see how she spins her way out of this one! I'd add that one of my Sinators, Debbie Stabenow voted for it, Carl Levin didn't! How did your Sinators vote?

Oh, and did I mention, the Bill doesn't include any money for Fatherland Security; that's a whole new ball of wax waiting for us in February. Can you imagine the cuts in needed programs for the people that'll be included in the budget nightmare to come?

However, to close on a happy note, tucked deep inside H.R.83 there is a provision that effectively ends the federal government's prohibition on medical marijuana and signals a major shift in drug policy. This marks the first time Congress has approved nationally significant legislation backed by legalization advocates. So relax grandma, you and your dealer are now safe from any imperial entanglements!

So how do you like Bush Lite so far?
And more importantly, what are you planning on doing about it?

Until the next time, Peace!
