When Der Fuhrer Says...
By Ernest Stewart

When der Fuehrer says, "We ist der master race"
We HEIL! HEIL! Right in der Fuehrer's face
Not to love der Fuehrer is a great disgrace
So we HEIL! HEIL! Right in der Fuehrer's face
Der Fuehrer's Face ~~~ Arthur Fields

You might remember a prominent theme during herr Hitler's ascendancy was restoring Germany to its former greatness, and Adolf Hitler and Propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels used the phrase "Make Germany great again" over and over and over again.

You may recall the German national Anthem started with:
Deutschland, Deutschland uber alles,
uber alles in der Welt, or

Germany, Germany over all
Over everything in the world!
You might also bethink what Cotton Mather said in Magnalia Christi Americana about how it was alright to steal Indian land because after all they were like children compared to Europeans. This wasn't Cotton's bright idea; although he certainly believed it, but it had existed in European law for centuries because of the Doctrine of Discovery.

The Doctrine of Discovery provided that by law and divine intention European Christian countries gained power and legal rights over indigenous non-Christian peoples immediately upon their "discovery" by Europeans. Various European monarchs and their legal systems developed this principle to benefit their own countries. The Discovery Doctrine was then adopted into American colonial and state law and into the United States Constitution, and was then adopted by the federal legislative and executive branches, and finally by the U.S. Supreme Court in Johnson v. M'Intosh in 1823. Johnson is still federal law today and the Doctrine of Discovery is still being applied to Indian individuals and the American Indian Nations notwithstanding its Eurocentric, religious, and racial underpinnings.

A little later American newspaper editor John O'Sullivan put it in terms that every American could understand as "Manifest Destiny" in 1845 to describe the essence of this mindset, which was a rhetorical tone; however, the unsigned editorial titled "Annexation" in which it first appeared was arguably written by journalist and annexation advocate Jane Cazneau. You may recollect that Jane and her father tried that little trick down in Texas where General Santa Anna had a few negative thoughts on the subject and Janie and her dear old Dad beat a hasty retreat to New York City? However, Sam Huston and the boys soon put the Doctrine of Discovery and Manafest Destiny to work and took Texas for themselves.

With that in our understanding let's zip forward to 2016 and listen to herr Trump's use of the old theme of, "Make America great again!" Are we having a deja vu yet, America? And like old Cotton, herr Trump reassured the investors that the Standing Rock pipeline will go through, regardless of the Indian protests or the Indian treaties. I wonder are the tribes having a deja vu, all over again too? That's the thing about history, it just keeps repeating itself, and most Americans are far too stupid to see it. You will soon pay for this stupidity, America! What's that I see in the distance? Is that some chickens coming home to roost?

So how do you like Bush Lite so far?
And more importantly, what are you planning on doing about it?

Until the next time, Peace!
